1. Cookies and similar technologies
A cookie is a small piece of information stored by a website in your browser. Similar technologies include local storage, pixels, tags, scripts and embedded content. They may remember a preference, keep a form secure, measure website use or connect a page to another provider. These rules apply whether or not the information identifies you directly.2. Your choices
Necessary technology keeps requested website services secure. You can choose Essential only, Allow analytics, or Allow analytics + ad measurement. Analytics permission alone does not allow advertising measurement. The third option allows analytics and Google advertising measurement so we can understand which ads lead to enquiries. Personalised advertising and remarketing remain disabled. You can change your choice using Cookie settings. Choosing Allow analytics removes advertising permission; Essential only rejects both optional purposes. The website updates other open tabs in the same browser when the stored choice changes, and checks again when a tab is restored or becomes active. This does not change choices saved on other browsers or devices. These choices do not stop you reading the site or contacting us. Advertising measurement stays disabled on our booking-support and traveller-details pages. Maps and videos use their own load or play controls.Choose Essential only, Allow analytics or Allow analytics + ad measurement. Personalised advertising stays off. The public panel is available when you are browsing signed out of WordPress.
3. Technologies used on this site
| Category and provider | Purpose | Typical storage or duration | Choice |
|---|---|---|---|
| Necessary — WordPress, Hostinger and security/session services | Deliver pages, balance traffic, protect the site, remember a requested session and support staff login or administration. | Usually the session or a short security period. Staff login cookies may last longer when “Remember me” is chosen. | Necessary for the requested service; cannot be switched off through the site controls. |
| Necessary/form functionality — WS Form and Elementor forms | Validate, submit and protect enquiry, availability, support and traveller-detail forms. A save-and-continue feature may store or email a secure resume link when you ask for it. | Session data; incomplete save-and-continue records are normally retained for no more than 30 days after last activity. | Used when you request the form service. |
| Appearance and preference — Visit Surin Islands currency display | Remember a manually selected currency, a detected country code and reference exchange rates so prices can be displayed consistently. | vsi-local-currency-country: up to 30 days; vsi-local-currency-rate-*: up to 24 hours; vsi-local-currency-preference: until changed, reset or cleared. |
Choose a currency or “Auto-detect” in the site header. You can replace or clear the saved preference at any time. |
| Country and exchange-rate services — IPWhois/ipwho.is and Frankfurter | IPWhois receives the request IP and returns country information for currency selection. Frankfurter returns reference exchange rates. Visit Surin Islands keeps the returned country code, not the lookup IP, in WordPress for this feature. | Country code in the browser up to 30 days; reference rates up to 24 hours. Each provider may retain technical request logs under its own policy. | Select a currency manually to override auto-detection. The feature uses requests without login credentials. |
| Analytics — Google Analytics 4 | Measure visits, pages, device/browser type, approximate location, referral source and form-completion events so we can understand and improve the site. | _ga and _ga_R3ZBZJ35W2 normally expire after up to 2 years unless a shorter setting or browser limit applies. |
Optional. Analytics storage is enabled only after you choose “Allow analytics” or “Allow analytics + ad measurement”. Advertising measurement requires the separate combined choice below. |
| Advertising measurement — Google Analytics and Google Ads | Associate eligible website visits and successful enquiries with Google advertising to measure results. | Existing Analytics cookies retain the durations listed above. Google may use advertising identifiers/cookies after the explicit measurement choice; their duration is controlled by the provider and your browser. Our separate browser preference contains only your choice, its version and choice time; we reuse it for up to 180 days on subsequent page loads, until you change it or clear site data. | Optional: Allow analytics + ad measurement. Disabled on booking-support and traveller-details pages. |
| External media — Google Maps and YouTube | Display a map, location tool or video. Loading the content can reveal your IP address, device/browser information and page interaction to Google/YouTube and may allow those providers to use cookies or similar technology. | Set by the provider according to the content and your Google/YouTube account or browser state. | Optional. Where controls are shown, the content loads only after you choose to allow external media or open the provider directly. |
| Payments — Stripe or another hosted payment provider | Prevent fraud, keep checkout secure, remember the payment session and complete the payment you request. | Set by the payment provider for security and transaction needs. | Used when you open or use the secure hosted payment service. Necessary payment-security technology is controlled by that provider. |
Cookie names and durations can change when a provider updates its service. We review the live site and this table when technologies change.
4. Google Analytics and Google Ads
We use Google Analytics to understand website visits and successful enquiries. If you select Allow analytics + ad measurement, Google may use advertising identifiers and website event information to associate eligible enquiries with Google advertising and help measure advertising results. Google receives fixed website event information; we do not intentionally send your name, email, telephone number, message, passport, health, traveller or payment-card field values in these events. Personalised advertising and remarketing stay disabled. Google tags use consent mode. Before a choice, or when a storage category is denied, Google may receive limited cookieless requests for aggregate measurement. These can include technical request information and page/ad-click information. Denied storage prevents the relevant analytics or advertising cookies being read or written. Our custom enquiry and WhatsApp events require Allow analytics. Rejecting optional storage is not a promise that no Google request is sent. The Analytics property may be connected to the Visit Surin Islands Google Ads account for the approved measurement purpose. We enable advertising storage and advertising-user-data processing only after the explicit measurement choice, on eligible public pages. We keep them disabled on booking-support and traveller-details pages. Changing your choice affects future collection and does not undo measurement already received.5. Browser controls and clearing data
Most browsers allow you to delete cookies and site data, block third-party cookies or prevent all storage. Blocking everything may stop secure forms, currency preferences or other requested features working correctly. Use your browser’s current help menu for instructions. Clearing site data removes saved currency and privacy choices from that browser, so the site may ask you again on a later visit.6. Provider information
